Chennai Airport Studies Feasibility of Integrated Tunnel to Improve Transfers within Airport

Meinhardt has been appointed as a consultant by the Airports Authority of India to study the technical feasibility of constructing a tunnel beneath the Chennai International Airport runway in Tamil Nadu, India. If feasible, it will be used for a revolutionary computerised, fully automated underground baggage/cargo/passenger transport system that will provide smooth and swift transfers within the airport. It will also be the first time construction takes place under a fully operational runway in India.
