With more than two decades of management experience across a variety of senior leadership positions, Dr Uma Maheshwaran Cheyyar Ramanathan joined Meinhardt Group in 2024 as the CEO overseeing Africa, South and Central Asian businesses. He is also concurrently the CEO of Meinhardt’s urban planning business.

Under Dr Uma’s leadership, Meinhardt Group is poised to significantly strengthen its long-standing business footprint across the Indian sub-continent and capitalise on growth opportunities in emerging markets across Central Asia and Africa where the Group is continuously expanding its presence.

Dr Uma has successfully held eminent leadership roles throughout his distinguished career. He served as the CEO for Jurong Consultants India business (2013-2015) before being elevated as their CEO for South Asia and Middle East (2015-2016). Dr Uma was subsequently appointed as the CEO for Surbana Jurong’s South and Central Asia business (2017-2023) which included SMEC’s business portfolio in the region following its acquisition. Dr Uma was also a global board member of SMEC International Pty Ltd.

Dr Uma is a well- recognised professional in the industry known for his visionary leadership and expertise. He was honoured with the “Inaugural Young Green Building Individual Award” and appointed as a Nominated Industry Ambassador for sustainability by Singapore's Building and Construction Authority.

Dr Uma holds a PhD in building science from the National University of Singapore and a masters in Business Administration (Finance) from the Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies, Pune, India. Dr Uma obtained his Bachelors’ Degree in Architecture from the University of Madras, India.
