Since the implementation of China’s Belt & Road Iniaitive (BRI) BRI in 2013, numerous infrastructure projects have been implemented in Southeast Asia and beyond, covering sectors such as power, water and transport.
Which are the landmark projects that have been successfully delivered? Can their structures and models be replicated for similar projects in other countries? What are the main obstacles faced in projects and how can they be overcome?
These were some of the topics discussed at the Singapore Regional Infrastructure Summit. Dr Shahzad Nasim, Meinhardt Group Executive Chairman, was involved in the panel discussion "Showcase & Implementation of BRI Projects in ASEAN and the Region".
Dr Nasim shared the challenges and opportunities of BRI projects from Meinhardt's experience working on the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project in Malaysia. The ECRL is the largest economic and trade co-operation project between Malaysia and China under the BRI.
